Spring Into A Seasonal Refresh

It’s March already - and with glimpses of sunshine here and there, we’re finding ourselves looking forward to Summer.

We’re often asked at the studio for ideas on seasonal refreshes for home interiors – and we’re delighted to share with you here a few of the trends we’re loving right now with some tips on how to get the look without necessarily having to invest in a full makeover.

Recent interiors shows have been brimming with all things natural, from natural materials - wood, stone, marble and eco-friendly, ever-practical and highly durable cork (which we are delighted to see back in vogue); which can all be used sparingly in accessories to ring the changes.

Check out our hand-crafted wood vessels or stone vessels full of individual character, or the nifty fossil table which, compact yet full of charm, is perfect next to a sofa for drinks and snacks, or to house a vase of cheerful Spring flowers.

Still on the natural theme, but this time aimed at creating bold impact, we’ve been delighted to see a colourful splash with a look we’ve christened Tropicana meets Out of Africa; a hot trend this year as botanicals and animals feature strongly in everything from fabrics and wallpapers to accessories and lighting.  We’ve recently used a striking palm leaf print to add the wow factor to a room scheme – without going the whole hog, you can create the same feel with a single statement wall in a paper of your choice, or by simply adding cushions or colourful printed throws in shades that either complement or contrast with your existing scheme.

The colour palette for Spring/Summer 2017 is exciting and will provide an instant mood lift after the more sombre tones of Winter. Bright jewel colours – deep reds, peacock blues and deep mint greens are vibrant and rich, whilst dark green in sprouting up everywhere in great abundance.

A bright accessory will add an instant colour burst – this Qlocktwo clock below with its clever use of letters instead of numbers to tell the time (available from our website) always provides a talking point.

If your budget will extend to new soft furnishings, upholstery or new seating, then you won’t go wrong with sumptuous velvets. The choice of colours means there’s something to suit every taste – and the beauty of velvet is that it oozes glamour, yet is tactile and comfortable to the touch.  Opulent or decadent; splendid or comfy; contemporary or traditional, velvet is simply perfect for adding layers of texture.
